Athena Balance ist eine einfache Formel aus Kaliumsilikat, die speziell darauf konzentriert ist, das Bewässerungswasser zu puffern und auf einen idealen pH-Wert zu stabilisieren. Silizium fördert zusätzlich das Pflanzenwachstum, die Stängelstruktur, den Stressabbau, die Wasseraufnahme (Osmoregulation) sowie die Nährstoffverwertung.

Gewerbliche Züchter erzielen insbesondere bei der Nutzung von Umkehrosmosewasser (RO) bessere Ergebnisse, wenn sie zuerst mit Athena Balance puffern. Reines RO-Wasser weist eine instabile chemische Struktur auf, die dazu führen kann, dass andere Nährstoffe eingeschlossen werden, wenn sie ohne einen Puffer hinzugefügt werden. Athena Balance fügt dem Wasser genau die richtige Menge hinzu, um eine homogenere Düngerlösung zu schaffen und so den Bedarf an pH-Korrekturen nach dem Mischen zu reduzieren.
Die Formel ist frei von Sedimenten und mit mechanischen Dosiersystemen (z. B. Dosatron) kompatibel. Athena Balance wird nicht für elektronische Dosiersysteme (wie Netafim) empfohlen.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
